Jim Bisenius — Managing Partner with Strong Refuge LLC

A graduate of Oregon State University with a bachelor of science in communications, James “Jim” Bisenius began his investment career in 1978 as a registered representative with investment brokerage firm Foster & Marshall in Seattle, Washington. Approximately 4 years later, Jim Bisenius opened Boettcher & Company. He spent several years as senior vice president of the company’s executive committee.

Mr. Bisenius subsequently joined Minneapolis-based Dain Bosworth Incorporated as vice president, where he established an investment management consulting department to help high-net-worth individuals pursue their investment objectives. During this time, he began recommending hedge fund managers with records of high return-to-risk ratios. Eventually, he formed Common Sense Investment Management, LLC, and led the firm in managing as much as $4.5 billion in assets before its dissolution in 2014.

Since 2014, James Bisenius has remained active in the investment arena as managing director and CEO of Strong Refuge, LLC, his family office, and founder of the Strong Refuge Charitable Trust. He also serves as a member of the outdoor advisory board with the Washington Family Ranch.
